PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of surely preventing the scattering of an unfixed toner image after transfer with simple constitution even when a distance between a transfer means and a fixing means is made short. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus has a discharging needle 8 for separating a recording material on which a toner image is formed from a photoreceptor drum 1 by utilizing electrostatic attractive force induced by the charge on the back of the recording material when the recording material comes off from a nip between the drum 1 and a transfer roller 5, and is provided with a polygonal paper guide part 17 whose apexes are arranged to be opposed to the back of the recording material near the needle 8. Thus, the trailing edge of the recording material coming off from the nip is decelerated and laid down, so that discharge is not caused between the needle 8 and the recording material, and the toner image is not scattered.
