PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable aluminum electrolytic capacitor which is free from such a problem that the electrolytic solution leaks to the outside of a capacitor, which is caused by a strong alkali component generated at a cathode when the capacitor is continuously used in a high-humidity atmosphere, because the strong alkali component particularly corrodes the cathode lead and the sealing material which contacts the cathode lead. SOLUTION: This aluminum electrolytic capacitor with a rating of 100 V or less comprises: a capacitor element in which an aluminum foil is used as an electrode; a driving electrolytic solution comprising water of 20-90% by weight, one or more organic carboxylic acids and an ammonium salt of those acids, and an organic carboxylic acid different from the organic carboxylic acid or one or more salts of those acids; a bottomed metal case containing the capacitor element impregnated with the driving electrolytic solution; and a sealing material for sealing the opening of the case. Herein, the freezing point of the electrolytic solution is -10°C or less, and the chlorine content of a sealing material of the capacitor is not more than 300 ppm to the weight of the sealing material.
