CATALYST BODY AND EXHAUST SYSTEM FOR A SMALL ENGINE AND METHOD FOR PRODUCTION OF THE CATALYST BODY

The invention relates to an annular catalyst body (1), with a radial throughflow, for assembly in a silencer housing (4) of a small engine, an exhaust system for a small engine and a method for production of the catalyst body (1). The catalyst body (1) is made from a perforated metal film (2). In a preferred embodiment, the holes (3) in the perforated metal film (2) are suitable for noise reduction such that the metal film can also adopt the function of a conventional baffle body. In a further preferred embodiment of the metal film (2) forming the catalyst body (1), webs (5) are arranged between the holes to reinforce the metal film, of a form to prevent a bulging of the metal film in the assembled state. In a yet further preferred embodiment, the ends (6, 7) of the metal film are connected with a detachable positive fit connection (8). Said catalyst body (1) is produced by bending the catalyst body (1) from a perforated metal film strip (2) with subsequent connection of the ends (6, 7) by means of a positive fit connection (8).
