PURPOSE: A dead-lock apparatus of vehicles and a control method thereof are provided to facilitate opening process from inside or outside the vehicle by preventing dead-lock when the vehicle is occupied. CONSTITUTION: A dead-lock signal input unit(10) converts a dead-lock signal to an electric signal. A passenger detection sensor(20) detects whether the vehicle is occupied and outputs the detected result. A door open signal input unit(30) detects whether the vehicle is open and outputs the detected result. A door switch input unit(40) detects open or close status of a door switch and outputs the detected result. A controller(50) outputs a central lock signal when it is determined that the dead lock signal is received, the vehicle is occupied, and the door switch is open. The controller outputs a dead-lock signal when it is determined that the no dead lock signal is received, the vehicle is not occupied, and the door switch is closed. A central lock actuator(60) actuates the central lock according to the central lock signal from the controller. A dead-lock actuator(70) actuates the dead lock according to the dead-lock signal. |
