PURPOSE: A method of controlling a compressor of a kimchi refrigerator by detecting the present temperature in a room and then controlling the rotation speed of an inverter compressor according to the difference between the present and target temperature is provided. It increases the overall efficiency of the system and prevents the motion loss of the inverter compressor, whereby increasing operational efficiency of the inverter compressor. CONSTITUTION: The compressor control for a kimchi refrigerator is achieved by the following process consisting of: detecting the present temperature in a room; judging whether or not the present temperature is higher or lower than the target temperature; stopping an inverter compressor when the present temperature is lower than the target temperature; measuring the difference between the present and target temperature when the present temperature is higher than the target temperature; determining the rotation speed of the inverter compressor in proportion to the difference between the present temperature and target temperature; and driving the compressor according to the rotation speed of the determined compressor.
