A device for recording and selective reproduction of video programs for video apparatus of capable of recording programs of violence and adult sex distributed through diverse video means and for restricting viewing of said programs to young ones. The recording of a view restriction stage (grade) is determined in accordance with the contents of a video program that will be recorded and the program provided from one of the video apparatus is recorded in a recording means in accordance with the determined recorded control step. In the reproduction, the recorded control step of the recorded program is recognized on the recording means and then compared with a reproduction control stage determined in the reproduction stage in a way that the reproduction of the program is carried out selectively depending on the comparison results of the recorded control stage and of the reproduction control step.
