PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the time search device for disk recording information, with which input operation of time search can be simplified and an input time can be shortened by a large extent. SOLUTION: This device is provided with an input means 14 for inputting hours, minutes, and seconds, a reproducing means 6 for reproducing information recorded in a disk type storage medium 2; a display means 11 displaying the total time, the time digit, the minute digit, the second digit of information recorded in the disk type storage medium 2 on a display part; and a control means 15, in which when reproduced information is inputted from the reproducing means 6, the total time is extracted, sent out to the display means 11, and displayed on the display part; after it is displayed on the display part, when a time is inputted by the input means 14, the input time is compared with the total time; when the input time exceeds the total time, it is made an invalid input, then the upper limit value which can be inputted in the total time is displayed at any digit of the display part, while a sign which prompts input to the digit of a lower order is displayed; and when the input time is within the total time, this total time is set as the upper limit, and the input time is displayed at the corresponding digit, and such a control is performed that digits orders higher than this display digit are not displayed.
