SLAB OFF GRADE BUILDING FOUNDATION SYSTEM

A method of "slab off grade" building construction comprises digging a peripheral trench in expansive soil to a depth unaffected by moisture-caused soil expansion, forming a cementitous foundation wall in the trench, supporting a preferably steel and concrete slab on the foundation wall and erecting the building on the slab. The foundation so-constructed and a building supported on the slab are free of the difficulties caused by soil expansion in slab-­on-grade construction in regions troubled by expansive soil. Preferably the cementitous foundation wall is soilcrete. Apparatus for digging the trench, excavating the soil, mixing soil, water and cement is also disclosed.
