<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance work efficiency and security of an image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: A log-out operation of the present invention is validated when original reading is completed and printing is started. When a log-out key is pressed (S1), it is determined whether original reading is under execution (S2) and while reading is executed, a caution message indicating that log-out is not possible, is displayed (S3). When reading is not under execution, log-out processing is performed (S4). After logging-out, a reading unit is opened to be prepared for next original reading.
