PURPOSE: Provided are a negative electrode for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery, its preparation method, and a secondary battery containing the negative electrode which has a high capacity, a long cycle lifetime and an excellent stability and shows an excellent cycle characteristic even after the repeated charge/discharge. CONSTITUTION: The negative electrode comprises a current collector sheet, and an active material layer supported on the surface, wherein the active material layer comprises SiOx satisfying the condition represented by 0.7<=x<=1.3, and contains no binder. Preferably the current collector sheet comprises a metal foil, or a resin core material and a metal layer coating the surface. Preferably the surface of the metal foil is coated with a layer containing a carbon material; and the resin core material is at least one selected from the group consisting of polyethylene terephthalate, polycarbonate, aramid resin, polyimide resin, phenol resin, polyether sulfone resin, polyether ether ketone resin and polyamide resin. |
