<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a decision that an abnormality has occurred in a motor drive even in case of an abnormality due to opening. <P>SOLUTION: The motor drive controller comprises an electric machine, a section for supplying a current to a coil, a section for detecting the current being supplied to the coil, a means for calculating a specified frequency component extracting variable based on the detected current, a means for extracting a specified frequency component generated in the frequency component extracting variable, and a means 91 for making a decision whether an abnormality has occurred in a motor drive or not based on the frequency component.
