PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition which satisfies both high rigidity and excellent low-heat build-up properties after vulcanization. SOLUTION: The rubber composition comprises 100 pts. wt. of a rubber component comprised of a vulcanizable diene rubber containing 20-100 pts. wt. of natural rubber and, incorporated therewith, 0.05-1.8 pts. wt. of a vulcanization accelerator and 60-100 pts. wt. of carbon black, where the vulcanization accelerator is at least one pyrimidine compound selected from the group consisting of a pyrimidinesulfenamide represented by general formula (1) and a pyrimidinesulfenimide represented by general formula (2) (R<SP>1</SP>-R<SP>8</SP>in the formulae are prescribed in the specification) and the carbon black has a DBP absorption of less than 110 cm<SP>3</SP>/100 g and a CTAB adsorption specific surface area of 70-100 m<SP>2</SP>/g.
