PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize efficient use of a recording medium and protection of an unviewed program in overwriting a program on the recording medium by switching an overwriting function in accordance with whether a user views the program in a repetitive recording reservation. SOLUTION: A recorder discriminates whether an information signal of a program recorded on the recording medium in the past has been already reproduced in a repeating reservation mode (step S404), when the information signal recorded in the past has been already reproduced, the information signal recorded in the past is erased from the recording medium and an information signal related to a broadcast program of this time is recorded (step S405 and 406), and when the information signal recorded in the past is not reproduced, the information signal related to the broadcast program of this time is recorded without erasing the information signal recorded in the past from the recording medium (step S406).
