Protective shield device for saw plate of a tabletop saw - for preventing operator's access to the saw plate through gaps and ensuring protection and safety in operation

This invention provides a protective shield device for saw plate of a tabletop saw. The tabletop saw is provided with a working bench and a saw plate capable of inclining at an angle. The shield device shields the saw plate and includes a support member, an eye shield, a parallel linkage, a resilient member and a shielding plate. Top and lower ends of the parallel linkage are each pivoted to the eye shield and the support member to allow the eye shield to translate upwards and downwards to open and close. Opposite ends of the resilient member are each connected to the support member and the eye shield to provide the eye shield with an automatic downward closing function. A shielding plate is slidably provided to a lateral side of the eye shield and forms a front barrier by bending a front end thereof. When the eye shield is inclined for an angle to expose gaps from the lateral side and the bottom front end, the shield plate slides and drops downwards automatically due to its own weight for completely shielding the gaps thereby preventing operator's access to the saw plate gaps and ensuring protection and safety in operation.
