The door for a motor vehicle has a door body with an inner section (7) and an outer section (8) with frame sections adjoining the upright pillars of the vehicle's body. The outer section connected to the inner section on the inner side between the frames (9,10) of the door body interacts with an impact protection device by means of a support unit (14). The support unit extends out from the window ledge (16) of the outer section as far as the impact protection device.
