A water spout is capable of providing laminar flowing fluid from a wall-mounted or faucet fixture body (10). The fixture body (10) defines a cavity (30) and a port (26) for connection of a plumbing supply line (28). A cartridge assembly (14) is disposed in the body cavity (30). The cartridge (14) has a housing (32) with an inlet opening (42) and an outlet opening (56) in fluid communication with the port (26). The cartridge housing (14) contains a plurality of elements (46, 48, 50, 52) between the inlet and outlet openings (42, 56) for smoothing the flow of fluid passing through the cartridge assembly (14). A nozzle (16), positioned adjacent the outlet opening of the cartridge, has a sharp-edged orifice (82) through which fluid leaving the fixture can be projected in a single laminar stream. The nozzle (16) can be removed from the fixture body (10) after the fixture body (10) has been mounted for use such that all of the flow smoothing elements (46, 48, 50, 52) can be removed at once by removing the cartridge assembly (14) from the cavity (30).
