<p>The joint consists of a thermal barrier (40) and at least one seal (32, 34) in the interface (30) formed by the facing surfaces of the combustion chamber rear end and outlet pipe. The thermal barrier is made from one or more rolled refractory fibre strips (42) located in the interface round the chamber's lengthwise axis to form a circumferential continuity. The thermal barrier strips can be made from carbon and/or ceramic fibres, braided and in overlaid two-dimensional layers; they can be folded instead of rolled, in which case their open edges are turned towards the inner edge of the interface.</p> |
