DIGITAL DATA SIGNAL TESTING USING ARBITRARY TEST SIGNAL

For testing a digital data signal (20), a value (60A) derived from the digital data signal (20) at a sampling point is compared in an analysis unit (80) against a corresponding value of an arbitrary test signal. The comparison is interpreted (80) as an error in case the derived value does not substantially match with the corresponding value of the arbitrary test signal and the bit error rate for the digital data signal is determined.
