PURPOSE: Provided is a toner which is less consumed per sheet of images, achieves a long lifetime in a smaller quantity, has superior developing performance in any environment, and don't cause sleeve ghost or spots around line images, or blotches. CONSTITUTION: The toner comprises toner particles comprising toner base particles containing at least a binder resin and a magnetic matter, and inorganic fine particles, wherein the toner base particles are obtained by melt-kneading a composition containing at least binder resin and magnetic matter, and pulverizing the resultant kneaded product; and have a circle-equivalent diameter of 3 to 400 micrometers as measured with a flow type particle image analyzer, an average circularity of 0.935 to 0.970 and an average surface roughness of 5.0 to 35.0 nm as measured with a scanning probe microscope.
