PURPOSE: A method for setting a personal information locking function in a mobile communication terminal is provided to set another personal information locking function except a locking function for putting a limitation on usage of a terminal, thereby putting restriction upon a function which is unrelated to a personal information leakage while the locking function is activated. CONSTITUTION: When a personal information locking function is activated, a system selects a predetermined function displayed on a menu or a keypad according to an inputted control command(S20,S21). If the selected function is a personal information reading request, the system reads a prestored text from a storage, and outputs the read text to a display(S22,S23). If the selected function is a voice call, data communication or a message transmission request, the system determines whether to connect according to the frequency of limit or a prestored limited time(S24,S25). The system confirms whether a password is inputted, and if the inputted password is correct, the system releases the personal information locking function(S26).
