The method involves computing Fourier transforms (S14) in a two-dimensional frequency space for digital x-ray image data obtained by panoramic or cephalometric x-radiography, multiplying (S16) the data with values of a mask with different frequency characteristics in two coordinate directions in 2D frequency space, whereby the values about the origin are less than unity, and computing inverse Fourier transforms (S18) for the data after multiplication to produce image data in real space..
