[Also in Division H1] Oxygen from a tank (10) is supplied to a nasal cannula (24), strapped to the wearer's head, via a solenoid valve (12) and a humidifier (11), the solenoid valve being opened only when the wearer inhales by the closing of a switch (15) actuated by the wearer's body. The solenoid valve is energised by a battery (14). The switch is supported on a belt 29, two ends of which are urged together by springs 30. The switch comprises bared looped ends 28a, 28b of leads 28 mounted in an insulating plug 36 in a glass or plastics shell 31 carried on one end of the belt and a conductive bar 38 slidable within the looped ends 28a 28b to make the circuit through the solenoid for opening the valve. During exhalation the belt contracts and contact between the looped ends and the bar is broken so that the valve closes. |
