PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device which exactly performs gradation display and is small in a layout area. SOLUTION: The color liquid crystal display device is equipped with a gradation potential generating circuit 16 which generates 64 potentials VG 1 to VG 64 formed by shifting the levels of 64 gradation potentials VG1c to VG64c varying from each other to a higher potential side by as much as the threshold voltages VTN of N type transistors and a driving unit circuit 62 which applies the potentials VIc formed by shifting the levels of the potentials VI selected by a decoding circuit 17 among the 64 potentials VG 1 to VG 64 to a low potential side by as much as the threshold voltages VTN of the N type transistors to a data line 6. Accordingly, the offset voltage VOF=-VTN of the driving unit circuit 26 is canceled without provision of an offset compensation circuit. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
