<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a prophylactic and therapeutic agent of various kinds of disease accompanied with morbid activation of PKC (protein kinase C) by isolating a material having PKC-inhibiting activities. <P>SOLUTION: The therapeutic agent of the disease on which the inhibition of the PKC takes effect is obtained by isolating a compound of formula (I) from a culture liquid of species belonging to the genus Penicillium, subjecting the obtained compound to structural analysis, and confirming that the compound has the PKC-inhibiting activities.
