<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera that allows a printer side to take the initiative in print control without placing a load on the digital camera side. <P>SOLUTION: The digital camera 10 can be connected directly to an external printer 110, and a printer interface 82 and a receptacle 72 of the digital camera 10 transfers image data to the external printer 110 and receives information on the printer which prints the image data and information on specifications of the image data to be printed from the external printer 110. A print output editing part 80 edits the image data for printing based upon the received information as instructed by the external printer 110.
