PURPOSE: A plasma display panel and a power control method thereof are provided to control the amount of power by deciding power level based on calculating the amount of light emitted according to a subfield. CONSTITUTION: A plasma display panel(70) includes a plurality of address electrodes, a plurality of scan electrodes, and a plurality of sustain electrodes. An automatic power control unit(30) maps inputted image data to each subfield, calculates the load factor of the mapped subfields to determine automatic power control levels and output power control data. A sustain/scan pulse driver(60) is used for generating a sustain pulse and a scan pulse corresponding to the power control data and applying the sustain pulse and the scan pulse to the scan electrode and the sustain electrode. |
