PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device which generates single or multiple receiving beams of phase regulated, having coherency, steered, and dynamically focused about an ultrasonic imaging system. SOLUTION: An adjustable resolution digital processor processes a signal used for constituting N receiving beams. N is a positive integer which can vary. In order to utilize all the digital processing capacity of the above-mentioned digital processor, the ultrasonic receiving beam generator provides a digital processor with a means to adjust the resolution of the above-mentioned signal as a function of N.
