The invention relates to a decorative trim part, comprising a support part, consisting of a plastic material, and a thin metallic decorative panel, secured on said support part, for the design of the interior of terrestrial, air or marine vehicles, especially for use as instrument panel elements, as a central console or as door trim mouldings. A finished decorative panel is introduced into an injection mould and the support part is injected directly onto the rear side of the decorative panel, as a multicoloured injection moulding material, so that both parts are, at least partially, firmly secured to each other and form a stable unit. Recesses are formed in the surface of said decorative panel, through which the plastic material of the support part extends, said plastic material being composed of a transparent material in this area. As a result, the decorative and/or display elements, which are visible from the visible side of the decorative panel, can be illuminated from the rear side.
