<p>A linear flow equalizer (40) for distributing thermoplastic material to a spin pack (32) of a meltspinning apparatus that provides for uniform apportionment of a flow of a flowable thermoplastic material at least vertically and in a cross-machine direction (45) of the spin pack (32). The linear flow equalizer (40) includes an inlet plate (48) with multiple liquid passageways (52) equidistantly spaced in the cross-machine direction (45) that each provide flowable thermoplastic material to a set (50a-c) of equalizer plates (72, 74, 76, 78, 80). Elongated slots (94, 102) extending through alternating equalizer plates (74, 78) are registered with throughholes (92, 100, 110) extending through adjacent plates (72, 76, 80) in the equalizer plate set. Each throughhole (92, 100) in an upstream equalizer plate (72, 76) is registered with the center of a corresponding slot (94, 102) and each throughhole (100, 110) in a downstream equalizer plate (76, 80) is registered with one of opposed closed ends (96, 98; 104, 106) of a corresponding slot (94, 102).</p> |
