<p>An integrated article of footwear including a waterproofing membrane (60) direct attached to an upper (20) of the footwear. An outsole (40) is further secured to the membrane (60) and/or the upper (20). In one embodiment, the membrane includes a visible aesthetic bead (62) in the footwear forefoot region (42), but not the heel region (44). The membrane (60) may be of greater thickness in the forefoot region (42) to provide added rigidity. A heel cradle (50) is positioned in the footwear heel region (44) between the upper (20) and the outsole (40). The footwear provides the durability of a direct attach construction in the forefoot (42) and the comfort and cushion of an athletic construction in the heel (44) of the shoe. A method for constructing the footwear includes direct attaching the membrane (60) to an upper (20) of the shoe. Optionally, a heel cradle (50) is disposed in the heel region (44) of the shoe, and the outsole (40) is secured to the heel cradle (50) and/or upper (20) there. <IMAGE></p> |
