The detector includes an electrical socket (16) attached to the oven, a plug inserted into the socket, and connected by wire to an elongate sensor which is inserted into the baked goods. The socket is arranged outside the heated chamber of the oven, preferably beside the opening to the oven. An independent claim is included for an oven.
