The invention relates to a method for recording test signals generated by a field apparatus (1). According to the inventive method, at least one condition for recognizing the occurrence of a faulty state during measurement of a test signal is predefined, the test signals of the field apparatus (1) are recorded, an examination is made as to whether a faulty state has occurred, at least the test signal that is connected to the condition for the faulty state is recorded separately in case the faulty state has occurred, a quantity (Av) is predefined which indicates the number of test signals occurring prior to the test signal that is connected to the condition for the faulty state being met, said test signals being recorded separately, and a number of test signals corresponding at least to the quantity (Av) are recorded separately.
