PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cassette type photographing apparatus which realizes the high efficiency of cassette loading operation. SOLUTION: A cassette 8 is placed on a lower side holder 12 and by moving the holder 12 upward, the cassette 8 is held between an upper side holder and the holder 12 and positioned at a predetermined position. When downward force acts on the holder 12, a stopper 122 abuts on the side surface of a guide rail 100 while the stopper 122 is energized. The downward movement of the holder 12 is therefore inhibited. When upward force acts on the holder 12, the stopper 122 is moved to retreat from the side surface of the rail 100, so that the holder 12 freely moves upward. When a lever 123 is pulled downward, the stopper 122 retreats from the side surface of the rail 100, and the downward movement inhibition state of the holder 12 is released.
