摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for detecting abnormality and service life of a working tool such as a cutting tool. <P>SOLUTION: The detecting device has an accumulated power consumption calculating section 301 for determining an accumulated power consumption every working of the working tool 1, compares the accumulated power consumption every working determined by the accumulated power consumption calculating section 301 with reference power consumption stored in a storage section 303, and determines abnormality and service life of the working tool 1. The reference power consumption is preferably set to equal to the accumulated power consumption at the first working time by a new working tool. The accumulated power consumption is preferably determined while removing an amount equivalent to the consumed power by idling of the working tool. In this method, error by manufacturing variation or variation of using environment or the like of the cutting tool is eliminated, and then the tool service life is accurately detected, so that the tool cost is significantly reduced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p>
