PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the transfer of heat from a principal compressing mechanism to a motive energy recovery unit. SOLUTION: A fluid machine 10A is equipped with an airtight container 11, the principal compressing mechanism 3 and the motive energy recovery unit 7. The motive energy recovery unit 7 includes a sub compressing mechanism 2 and a motive energy recovery mechanism 5. A buffer 107 is provided between the principal compressing mechanism 3 and the motive energy recovery unit 7. The buffer 107 constitutes a discharge channel of a working fluid discharged from a discharge opening 49 of the sub compressing mechanism 2 and makes a cross-sectional area of a flow path of the working fluid larger than an opening area of the discharge opening 49 of the sub compressing mechanism 2.
