PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new biological cleaning method for easily and efficiently subjecting contaminated soil comprising oil, aromatic hydrocarbon and halogen-containing hydrocarbon to cleaning treatment with microorganisms. SOLUTION: Fresh-water, sea-water or mixed water of sea-water and fresh-water comprising nitrate ions and/or nitrite ions is added to contaminated soil, and contaminants in the contaminated soil are removed with microorganisms in the contaminated soil and/or microorganisms acclimatized by sludge comprising the contaminants in the contaminated soil.
