PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a three-layer twisted structure metal cord having improved fretting resistance. SOLUTION: This metal cord for tire has a three-layer twisted structure comprising a core 11 and an inner sheath 12 and an outer sheath 13 formed on the outside of the core 11. The filaments F1 of the core 11 and the filaments F3 of the outer sheath 13 have the same tensile strength Ea, and the tensile strength Ea is larger than the tensile strength Eb of the filaments F2 of the inner core 12.
