<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain stable image density not only in a solid part but also in a high light part over a long period. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming method, electrostatic latent images of a plurality of reference patterns are formed on a photoreceptor 1, the reference patterns are developed by a developing device 5, toner attached quantity in the developed reference pattern is detected and the image forming condition is compensated based on the detected result of the toner attached quantity. The image forming condition is compensated by deriving at a straight line approximate expression between developing potential and toner attached quantity from the detected result of latent image potential and toner attached quantity in the plurality of reference patterns. Then, developing gamma, which is the inclination of the straight line approximate expression, and developing start voltage are calculated. Next, the target electrifying potential and the target exposure part potential are determined from the developing gamma. The target developing bias potential is determined from the target electrifying potential, the target exposure part potential, developing gamma and developing start voltage. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
