PURPOSE: A pollutant exhaust device and a pollutant exhaust method of a microwave oven are provided to quickly exhaust smoke or moisture produced during working of a cooker, to the outside and to improve reliability in the driving of an exhaust fan. CONSTITUTION: A pollutant exhaust device of a microwave oven comprises a sensor part(41) formed to one side of the microwave oven, to sense smoke and/or moisture produced when food is cooked; a control part(42) deciding whether the sensed amount of the smoke and/or moisture sensed by the sensor part is greater than a reference value; and a fan drive part(43) making air including pollutants sucked and making the pollutants removed from the room. The fan drive part is driven by a drive signal produced by the control part if the sensed amount sensed by the control part is greater than the reference value.
