PURPOSE: A measurement method and a controlling method using an ear-microphone input/output unit of a portable apparatus are provided to share an A/D converter of a cellular phone to digitalize various signals while analyzing the signals, thereby using the cellular phone as a measurement apparatus for various purposes only if a program for processing signals is prepared in the cellular phone. CONSTITUTION: A jack for a measurement apparatus(10) is inserted into a microphone connector(27). When a measurement signal generator(11) tries to obtain various measurement information, an analog measurement signal corresponding to a measurement value is generated. A signal level controller(12) converts a level of the analog measurement signal into a signal level to be inputted to an audio A/D converter(26) of a portable apparatus(20). The level-controlled analog measurement signal is converted into a digital measurement signal in the A/D converter(26). The digital measurement signal is processed by a program of a CPU(22) to display the measurement value on a display(24) or to store the value in a storage(23).
