PURPOSE: A card reader for connecting with a PC is provided to prevent breakage of data or media in the media by inserting/removing a live wire of the media from the card reader. CONSTITUTION: A moving member(40) is movable to the same direction as the inserting/removing direction of a connector(20). Pushed by a surrounding part of the counter connector connected to the connector when the connector is inserted, the moving member prevents the media(80) installed to a housing from being pull out. A pressing means pushes the moving part to the inserting direction of the connector. Moved by pressing of the pressing means when the connector is removed, the moving means pulls out the media installed to the housing. A media lock detector detects a lock or release state of the media by the moving member. In the lock state, a power supply line is supplied to the media. In the release state, the power supply line is cut off.
