The bicycle or tricycle has a frame (1) for a front wheel and one or two rear wheels (3, 8). At least one of the rear wheels has a freewheeling hub (4). A spacer (5), which is part of the drive system, is fixed to this rear wheel to convert the bicycle into a tricycle. A frame widener (2) is fitted to the frame and to both rear wheels.
