PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new active matrix type display device which uses thin-film transistors as pixels.

SOLUTION: An insulating film 208 is formed covering a gate electrode 203, a gate insulating film 202 and a semiconductor layer 201 of a thin-film transistor, and an electrode 213 in contact with the semiconductor layer 201 is formed on the insulating film 208. An organic resin film 220 is formed covering the electrode 213 to form a flat surface. On the flat surface of the organic resin film 220, a pixel electrode 230 in contact with the electrode 213 is formed. The contact area between the electrode 213 and semiconductor layer 201 and the contact area between the pixel electrode 230 and electrode 213 are overlapping when the pixel is viewed from the front side.
