Crest-factor reducing method for transmitted data symbol in multi-carrier data transmission system, by shifting Direct-type function to position of maximum of time function

The method involves storing a direct-type function, whose amplitude is scaled to a predetermined value, and checking if the time function of a data symbol (X) to be transmitted has at least one maximum that excites a threshold within a predetermined time interval. The position of the maximum within the time interval is determined. A correction function is formed by shifting the direct-type function to the position of the maximum. The data symbol is modified by subtracting the correction function, to produce a data symbol with a reduced crest factor. An independent claim is included for a circuit for crest factor reduction.
