PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for purifying volatile organic compounds contaminating groundwater and soil. SOLUTION: In the purifying method of volatile organic compounds, a contaminated sector 3 in a ground 2 contaminated with the volatile organic compounds and a powder 32 of an active carbon are stirred and mixed. In order to stir and mix the contaminated sector 3 and the powder 32, for example, the DJM may be used. If so, the contaminated sector 3 contaminated with the volatile organic compounds and the powder 32 of the active carbon are stirred and mixed with a stirring blade 4, and the volatile organic compounds contained in the contaminated sector 3 are adsorbed by the powder 32 of the active carbon. Here, a case where the contaminated sector 3 in the ground 2 is located at the same or higher position compared to the groundwater level, and a case where the contaminated sector 3 in the ground 2 is located at the same or lower position compared to the groundwater level are assumed.
