PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device that transmits and receives a signal from an antenna array in the base station of a cellular communication system. SOLUTION: Traffic channels available are divided into two or more classes. A base station transmits the signal from the channel of the first class within a wide antenna lobe to a mobile station. In turn, the position of the mobile station is decided by the signal received from the mobile station in the base station. After the position of the mobile station is decided, the base station transmits the signal to the mobile station and receives the signal from the mobile station by a second class channel that has a narrow antenna lobe.
