The invention relates to a burner system that comprises a combustion chamber system (1) with a combustion chamber (2) and a flame tube (3) disposed downstream thereof, especially for a water or air heater of a motor vehicle that is operated with a liquid fuel and that is an additional heater or an auxiliary heater. The inventive burner system is further characterized in that at least one exhaust gas permeable insert (4) that consists of a temperature-resistant material is provided in the flame tube (3) and/or in the exhaust piping (5) mounted downstream of the flame tube (3).
