PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing apparatus capable of making communication with other information processing apparatus at high speed via a LAN and to provide a LAN adaptor used for the same. SOLUTION: The information processing apparatus is provided with the LAN adaptor 12 placed between a CPU 11 including an MMU 15 and the LAN 16 via a GPI bus 21. The LAN adaptor 12 comprises: an MPU 124, a DGI controller 121; a GPI controller 122, an FCS controller 126, and firmware including a memory, which are interconnected by a processor bus 123.
