<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a forward object position detector capable of precisely detecting the position of an object present in front of the vehicle on which the position detector is mounted. <P>SOLUTION: This detector is provided with an object detection means 31 for grouping a plurality of detection points detected by a laser radar 1 to detect the forward object; an object measuring means 32 for measuring the forward object based on the detection data of the means 31; an object position storing means 33 for storing the measurement result by the means 32; and an object position correction means 32 for correcting, when the difference the object width measured by the means 32 from an object width measured in the past is larger than a predetermined value, the present position information of the forward object and the object width on the basis of the position information and object width information stored in the storage means 33 and information for the traveling state of the vehicle. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
