PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the durability of a master carrier and to enhance the quality of magnetic transfer by preventing peeling of a magnetic layer disposed on the substrate of the master carrier. SOLUTION: The magnetic layer 32 disposed on the substrate 31 is formed by specifying M1 to a range from 1.9 to 2.1T and 0.24≤(M1-M2)/M1≤0.35 when the average saturated magnetization of an upper layer part 32a which occupies 30% of the thickness d of the magnetic layer 32 from the uppermost surface of the magnetic layer 32 is defined as M1 and the average saturated magnetization of a lower layer part 32b which occupies 30% of thickness d from the lowermost surface as M2.
